One of our arborists noticed an example of smooth patch fungus eating away at the corky outer layer of this oak tree. If you see this condition in your landscape don’t be alarmed. Smooth patch fungus only invades the tree’s dead outer bark layers. This condition causes no harm to the tree and has no negative effects on tree health or structure.
