Here is an example of whoolly pine scale activity on a loblolly pine tree. Shrub Doctor found 18 trees within a new townhouse project, infested with this scale. Whoolly Pine Scale is usually not a real problem, and is often controlled by its predators. In this case, the developer was very concerned that these trees might decline, and reduce their use as a barrier from the traffic beyond the property. Shrub Doctor treated the trees via deep root soil injection, utilizing a fast moving systemic insecticide. We also included fertilization to help speed uptake. Shrub Doctor will soon evaluate the progress of the treatment, and possibly treat the trees again in the following spring season.
