This is a limb from an old oak near my house. This disease is caused by a leaf spot fungus. I see this condition all over the Lake Norman, NC area. This tree is about 50-60 years old, and is doing fine. The disease seems to be currently more a “cosmetic” issue, yet it will eventually shorten the life of the tree. I show this photo to make a point. Plant diseases are natural. Its part of the way our plant life recycles itself. As homeowners, we obviously want to fight disease in our landscape.
